Prepare the printer for first use.

Preparing Power, Ink Tanks, and Paper

Important

  • Do not connect a USB cable while preparing the printer.
  1. Check accessories.

    Make sure the accessories shown in the following illustration are supplied.

    Important

    • The Setup CD-ROM is for Windows only.
  2. Remove protective materials and turn on printer.

  3. Install ink tanks.

    • Remove the orange tape completely.
  4. Load A4 plain paper.

    • Alternatively, use Letter size plain paper.
    • The loaded paper will be used for a test print.
  5. Align print head.

    • The screen will turn off after approximately 5 minutes of inactivity. To turn the screen back on, press any button (except the ON button) on the operation panel.
  6. Select how to use printer.

    When connecting to computer/smartphone/tablet

    When using printer only without connecting to computer/smartphone/tablet

  7. Connecting via Wireless LAN

    1. Select Wireless LAN connection and press OK button.

      Select connection method screen: Select Wireless LAN connection
    2. Select Yes and press OK button.

      Wireless LAN connection screen: Connect a computer or smartphone, etc. to the printer with wireless LAN

      When the following screen appears, perform setup to make the printer ready for use.
      Set up a connection between the printer and computer, smartphone, or tablet, or install applications by referring to this site.

      Wireless LAN connection screen: Meanwhile, see Getting Started and continue with the setup procedure on the computer or smartphone, etc.

    Connecting via USB

    1. Select USB connection and press OK button.

      Select connection method screen: Select USB connection
    2. Select Yes and press OK button.

      When the following screen appears, perform setup to make the printer ready for use.
